Well tomorrow I’m off to Spokane for the weekend, for my best friend’s wedding! and I have no Rupert Everett to comfort me when it’s all over and she’s off to Hawaii. This friend of mine was basically the first person I met at freshman orientation at SPU. It’s humbling to think that while I was terrified, completely overwhelmed those first days (and months!) of college, God was still directing me to a friend who would remain steady throughout college and beyond…five years now! Wait….I think I just wrote the toast I have to give! Excellent!!
Well, I’m off to finish packing, an art I’ve become a master of after 2 months traipsing around Thailand…
disasters and dancers
Lately I have been having disaster dreams. Usually I either do something really embarassing or else I’m responsible for some sort of catastrophe. I’ve dreampt a couple times that I’ve put the wrong event time on fliers for events at church, and the whole church shows up two hours early and just mills around looking confused and hurt, while the staff is in a panic. The other night my dreams were occupied by a member of Interbay staff, sobbing with urgency and telling me that I needed to hurry and find a host for an upcoming Q Cafe rental. I dreamed that I couldn’t find my bridesmaid dress at my friend’s (upcoming) wedding, and I missed the whole getting ready part of the wedding. I even dreampt I was in jail all night, mysteriously empathizing with Paris (or She Who Must Not Be Named, as Anderson Cooper calls her). I need some peace in my heart, clearly! How do I stop having these nightmares??
I found this video on YouTube…it may not be as enjoyable to most people as it was to me, but I couldn’t help posting it. I grew up watching Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, and all those geniuses from MGM’s golden age of musicals. The editing on this video is pretty amazing, and it gets better as it goes along. It was an experiment, “bridging a 60 year gap”, because Michael Jackson borrowed from Fred Astaire, and JT borrowed from Michael Jackson. So here is Fred Astaire, bringing sexy back!
busy
Everytime I go to Costco I am fascinated by the people who work there. Not the checkers, but those employees who powerwalk around, looking extremely harried and important, listening to their walkie talkies as they dodge shopping carts, and occasionally breaking into a run when something particularly urgent occurs. What is it exactly that they do?? I’ve wondered about this my whole life.
Haven’t had much time for updating lately. Tomorrow I’m throwing my first bridal shower, and Sunday is the joint celebration of the merger between Interbay and Quest Church. What a big day!
I will update more regularly once things have calmed down a bit. In the meantime, in the spirit of poor Miss USA’s misfortunes, I leave you with a clip of one of my favorite celebrity falls. I feel so bad for poor Kelsey Grammar, but I just keep watching it for some reason…
